Some beach…Somewhere!

“There’s a big umbrella casting shade over an empty chair
Palm trees are growing and a warm breeze is blowing
I picture myself right there
On some beach, somewhere” – Blake Shelton

At a beach in Florida

Fun in the sun ūüôā

Florida is home to some of the most gorgeous beaches in the United States! This wonderful place, also known as the “Sunshine State” is a great spot for summer vacations. Not to mention, the city of Orlando is practically the king of all theme parks! According to Orlando Travel & Hotels, visiting Orlando allows you to “take a vacation within your vacation.” There are amazing opportunities to have fun in Orlando and they all exist well within range of each other!

Beaches

For those interested in Atlantic beaches, there are more than a few near by. By just driving 90 minutes from Orlando, you can visit Cocoa Beach, Daytona Beach, New Symnra Beach, Melbourne Beach, and Canaveral National Seashore. If you are more interested in beaches on the Gulf Coast, the drive is a bit further, but will be worth it! Within 2 1/2 hours of Orlando, you can find Treasure Island, Clearwater Beach, Fort De Soto Park, Caladesi Island State Park, Anna Maria Island, Siesta Key, Longboat Key, Lido Key, and St. Armands Key. Figuring out what you want out of your beach day is a very important step in deciding which beach to visit. Once you do that, any one of these beaches can provide the opportunity to have an amazing time! Theme Parks

Disney World

Disney World

Many people automatically think of theme parks when they think of¬†¬†Orlando. The most exciting, as I’m sure you can guess, is Disney World. Orlando is home to Disney World-Magic Kingdom, Disney World-Animal Kingdom, Disney World-Epcot Center, Downtown Disney, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Also, if you want to branch off from the Disney Parks, there are other attractions such as¬†the Wet ‘N¬†Wild water park, Ripley’s Believe It or Not, Legoland, Universal Studios, Discovery Cove, Sea World, Lake Eola Park, and Old Town Orlando. As you can see, Orlando has plenty of adventurous opportunities! These theme parks can¬†be the¬†perfect place to go on a date, spend quality time with your family, or even explore on your own. Again, it’s just a matter of discovering which one is right for you! For more information on making that decision, see: Where to Go in Orlando: Theme Park Guide.

Wildlife Encounters

If you are interested in finding something a little more low-key, tours can be just the thing for you! The My Explore application for the iPhone provides a variety of options that can allow you to be your own guide. For instance, the “Wildlife Encounters Tour” of Black Hammock Adventures¬†can be both thrilling and relaxing at the same time.

Just thirty minutes from Orlando, the Black Hammock Adventures tour offers exciting airboat rides on Lake Jesup as well as the chance to get up close and personal with their alligator and wildlife exhibit. If you are in more of a undwinding type of mood, then you can also kick back and dine at the Black Hammock Adventures restaurant or have a drink at The Lazy Gator Bar. The Black Hammock Adventures has it all!

Orlando, Florida is full of amazing opportunities. It’s all about finding out what fits you, your spouse, or your family. The new Hertz NeverLost My Explore mobile travel application for the iPhone can most likely help you figure that out! The app provides a ton of information on Orlando and it is free. If you’re ever in Orlando and need help exploring, remember that My Explore¬†has the potential to¬†be the best friend a traveler could have.

Have a great summer!
