The Big Apple

“One belongs to New York instantly, one belongs to it as much in five minutes as in five years.” – Thomas Wolfe

New York City is one of the most populous cities in the United States. There are many things to do there and I feel like even the people who reside in this city don’t get to experience it all. Between the hustle and bustle on Times Square, the theatrics on Broadway, and the exciting neighborhoods that exist in “The Five Boroughs,” it’s completely understandable why people refer to this place as “The City That Never Sleeps!” I feel so lucky to have visited New York City three times and I know for a fact that I want to go back some day!

Peace

Some people love that they stay busy all the time when they are in New York. However, for the people who want some peace and quiet or when the “busy bees” realize that they are burnt out, there are some really wonderful places to relax. These places even exist right there in the city! For example, the High Line is a public park that is built above the streets of Manhattan’s West Side. The park features the “23rd Street Lawn” which is a great space for sunbathing, picknicking, and people-watching. Getting a taste of nature without actually having to leave the city, is pretty convenient!

Pizzazz!

If you are in New York City and you are looking to “get a little more out of life” then please, please go see a Broadway play! They are amazing! When I was in NYC, I was fortunate enough to see the plays Beauty and the Beast and A Raisin in the Sun. Both of these experiences were amazing and I would love to see more! Everything that goes into a play is really inspiring to me. If you want to see talented, glamourous people give the performance of a lifetime, then Broadway is the place to be. Prizes

Visiting New York City can be a prize in and of itself!! Certain places have so much interesting history that it takes no time at all to make you feel welcome there. Other, newer places, just tend to have that “it” factor that make you want to be a part of the crowd! However, what is really special, is when everyone in the city comes together and gets excited about the same thing! For instance, The Belmont Stakes had people from all over, especially NYC, hyped up about someone winning the Triple Crown! This had not been done since 1978, so you can see why it was such a big deal! The horse, “I’ll Have Another” had really inspired people and given them hope. However, unfortuntaley, the horse had to scratch at the last minute due to an injury. “I’ll Have Another has been retired from racing due to developing tendonitis in his left foreleg, his connections announced Friday.” The race was set for Saturday, June 9th and this now means there will not be a Triple Crown winner for the 34th year in a row. While this is disappointing news, my take on it is that it’s amazing to see how much people can come together when they are all hoping for the same thing. According to the horse’s trainer, Doug O’Neill: “The bottom line is it’s not tragic, no one got killed, there are much bigger issues in the world.” The trainer has an excellent point. He handled the situation in a very calm way and pointed out that the physical prize isn’t everything, but that life itself is a prize that we should cherish it. I agree.

If this news has happened to made you lose interest in the race..I have a suggestion! The My Explore Hertz NeverLost Mobile Companion is an application that can help you find all the best things to do in New York City! You can find must-see attractions, take self-guided tours, and check out the best local restaurants!

Go enjoy your life, it is the best prize of all!
