Lost in Las Vegas

“What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”  – Jeff Candido and Jason Hoff, advertising slogan written for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, 2002

Las Vegas is a city where people tend to go to lose themselves in the moment. Inhibitions get lowered and people just want to have a good time. Hence the saying, “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.” For a saying that was originally created for advertising purposes, it sure has stuck around to become a motto that people live by. I don’t know from experience what Las Vegas is like, but I definitely want to find out some day! I have a lot of friends who have been to Vegas and they always tell me how much fun it was. Plus, everyone needs at least one experience similar to The Hangover, just to see what it’s like! Be careful though 🙂 Also, remember that you can always use the My Explore Hertz NeverLost Mobile Companion to guide yourself around Sin City! Have a good time!

Singing in Sin

Do you have a favorite artist? Do you love music? Do you love to dance? Then you might be in luck! This coming September, Las Vegas will be hosting the iHeartRadio Music Festival and there will be a ton of famous performers making appearances! The dates of the festival are September 21st at 7:30 pm  (PST) and September 22nd at 7:30pm (PST). The artists performing at the festival are: Green Day, Jason Aldean, Lil Wayne, Miranda Lambert, No Doubt, Rhianna, Shakira, Swedish House Mafia, Usher, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Brad Paisley, Calvin Harris, Deadmau5, Enrique Iglesias, Linkin Park, Mary J. Blige, P!NK, Pitbull, and Taylor Swift. Also appearing are Macy’s iHeartRadio Rising Star Winner Megan & Liz. Visit the Ways to Win page to find out information about opportunities to win your way to the festival!

Picture Perfect

What would a trip to Vegas be without stopping and taking pictures with the most recognizable sign in the world? The “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada” sign was created in 1959 and it stands over 25 feet tall. It’s located right on the Las Vegas Strip, just south of the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino and the hours of operation are 24 hours. As one of the city’s oldest symbols, it used to be very difficult to access. However, now the sign features a 12-car parking lot and there is also room to park two buses. This space was designed to ” improve pedestrian safety and even provide access for the disabled.” Making the sign more accessible was definitely smart, in my opinion. I document my life through pictures, so I know I would absolutely HAVE to take a picture with this phenomenal sign! Just thinking about it makes me want to plan a trip!

Hotel Hotties

What is one thing everyone loves to do in the summer? Go to the pool, of course!! Lounging out at the pool all day is always nice, but in Vegas, you do way more than that at the pool! Beachlife Summer 2012 are the leaders in daylife and nightlife activity as they reign as the top icons in the party and entertainment industry. The Beachlife pool parties that are hosted at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino look like so much fun! Also, there are three pools that you can get the experience from: Nirvana Pool (9am to Close, Seven days a week), Breathe Pool (11am to 3am, Friday – Sunday & 11am to 8pm, Monday – Thursday), and Paradise Beach Pool (11am to Sunset, Monday – Friday & 10am to Sunset, Saturday and Sunday). To see if Beachlife is for you, check out this performance of Chanel West Coast at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino:

Are you ready for a trip to Vegas now? I know I am! Summer is almost over, but it is never too late to start planning. I will definitely be adding Las Vegas music festivals, famous signs, and pool parties to my list of things to do.

Have a good weekend!

Melissa Woodring 🙂
