San Diego Beaches

According to the Guide to San Diego Beaches, “If San Diego is known for one thing, it would be for our gorgeous beaches. With 70 miles of pristine coastline, year-around sunshine and mild temperatures, you can enjoy the surf and sand almost any day of the year. For visitors and locals alike, the beach is a veritable wonderland and the place to spend entire days with family and friends.” Beach days are always a  favorite among many people, but you may be wondering which beach is right for you. The activities that you like doing at the beach are your main deciding factor. Are you looking for the perfect family spot or the best beach to take your dog? Maybe you’re more into the beaches with awesome waves, so you can get your surf on! Regardless of what you’re in the mood for, you have a lot of options! San Diego Famous Foods

San Diego is full of amazing bars, breweries, restaurants, nightclubs, and wineries. However, when deciding where to go this week, you should definitely focus on the restaurants. Why? Because it’s Restaurant Week in San Diego!! Now, what does that mean for you restaurant goers? Well, you should prepare to “Experience cuisine that delights your palate and defines the art of dining in San Diego.” San Diego Restaurant Week began on September 16th, 2012 and will last until the 21st. “Held twice annually, this beloved culinary tradition features discounted prix fixe menus from more than 180 of San Diego’s best restaurants in 12 unique regions throughout San Diego County.”  Can you imagine, a week filled with reasonably priced meals at some of the most notable restaurants in San Diego? No tickets or passes are required to participate, but it is recommended that you make a reservation. Besides that, nothing is stopping you from dining out with as many Restaurant Week restaurants as you want. If you’re ready to browse participating restaurants, then go ahead and get started! It is never too early to plan a meal! For more information on San Diego Restaurant Week, check out this brief video:

San Diego Zoo

The San Diego Zoo is an “urban paradise for all ages.” I would LOVE to go here! You have the chance to see animals such as gorillas, tigers, sun bears, flamingos, mandrills, polar bears, birds of paradise, giant tortoises, leopards, pandas, and more. The San Diego Zoo was founded in 1916 and it is home to more than 4,000 animals representing more than 800 species from around the world. Along with being able to see a ton of amazing animals, there are also a variety of events that take place at the zoo. For example, the San Diego Food & Wine Celebration is coming up on Saturday, September 22, 2012. If you choose to participate in this celebration, you will be  helping support the San Diego Zoo Institute for Conservation Research. What will you be doing to show your support? At the San Diego Food & Wine Celebration, you will be enjoying more than 175 food and beverage vendors, listening to live music, meeting animal ambassadors, and bidding on your favorite items in the silent auction. There are also various tours that you can take while you’re visiting the zoo that will allow you to get a different perspective on the animals and attractions that are there. To see some of the animals and preview one of the tours, take a look at this “San Diego Zoo Discovery Tour” video:

If you live in San Diego or you plan on visiting soon, I hope you take the time to really explore!! There are so many things to do in San Diego and you should cross as many of them off of your list as you can! I know I will…one day! Until then, I’ll live vicariously through the locals and visitors of Southern California. Stay classy!
