The Magic Isle

“Hawaii is the land of big dreams, for both islanders and guests. Those dreams born in Paradise can, indeed, come true.” – Sharon Linnea

Hawaii can definitely be an amazing place for both visitors and locals. The adventures that each island offers are so exciting and the scenery, of course, is gorgeous. One island in particular is especially on my mind this week…Maui! “From its heavenly beaches to its scenic natural wonders, there are plenty of reasons why Maui has been voted “Best Island” by readers of Conde Nast Traveler for seventeen years (according to gohawaii.com). Along with being voted the “Best Island,” Maui is also known as “The Magic Isle.” The island is the second largest in Hawaii, but it has a smaller population than you would think, which makes it popular with visitors who are looking for “sophisticated diversions and amenities in the small towns and airy resorts spread throughout the island.” If you’re looking for an amazing activity to do in Maui, look no further! We are giving away an amazing prize!! Just enter the “Road to Hana” Sweepstakes and you could win two Maui Sunset Champagne Cruises!

Heavenly Hana

Traveling along the scenic road to Hana can be an awesome experience! According to GoHawaii, “The legendary road to Hana is only 52 miles from Kahului, however the drive can take anywhere from two to four hours to complete since it’s fraught with narrow one-lane bridges, hairpin turns and incredible island views.” The road leads you through dramatic seascapes, lively rainforests, flowing waterfalls, and plunging pools. Along The Hana Highway (which has 620 curves and 59 bridges) there are plenty of opportunities for you to stop and enjoy yourself! For example, you could:

Once you’re in Hana, you also have a lot of activities to choose from:

  • Mark your arrival into Hana by visiting the Historic St. Sophia’s Church
  • Browse the Hasegawa General Store and Hana Ranch Store for unique souvenirs
  • Swim and sunbathe at Hana Beach Park or Hamoa Beach, cited by author James Michener as the most beautiful beach in the Pacific
  • Snorkel at Waianapanapa State Park, a beautiful black sand beach
  • Visit Hale Piilani, the state’s largest heiau (Hawaiian temple), in Kanahu Gardens, one of five National Tropical Botanical Gardens in Hawaii
  • Beyond Hana, venture 10 miles south to the outskirts of Haleakala National Park in Kipahulu. There you’ll find the popular Pools of Oheo, where waterfalls spill into tiered pools leading to the sea. View these tranquil natural pools or hike up the Pipiwai Trail to the 400-foot Waimoku Falls.

As you can see, traveling the road to Hana is very exciting and is full of adventure!!

Best Luau

Many people say that if you haven’t been to a luau before, the Old Lahaina Luau is the one to attend! According to Old Lahaina Luau-Traditional Luau & Feast, “The Old Lahaina Luau takes great pride in presenting an authentic Hawaiian Luau.” A travel guide from U.S. News indicates that “You’ll dine on a meal of Kalua Pua’a (roasted pork), Pulehu steak, lomi lomi salmon and poi (mashed taro plant)…plus listen to chants and witness hula dancing, all set along the waterfront on Front Street at sunset.” You can also enjoy island crafts and demonstrations, such as the “Imu unearthing of the Hawaiian underground oven.” Tropical cocktails and beverages are included throughout the evening and there is also a buffet where you can try a variety of Hawaiian foods. To see a luau dance from The Old Lahaina Luau, watch this video:

Sunset Cruise

As I mentioned before, we are GIVING AWAY two Maui Sunset Champagne Cruises. These cruises seem like they would be so much fun!! When the cruise sets sail, it will head into the clear waters of Wailea. From there, “you will be fed with fresh, local appetizers including BBQ meatballs, shrimp cocktail, assorted cheeses, crackers, fruit and more.” You can also satisfy your thirst by trying a Mai Tai, testing out any one of the local beers that are on tap at the open premium bar, or of course…having some champagne! According to KaiKanani, “The Setting Sun + A Beautiful Sailboat = The Memory of a Lifetime.”  Watch the video “Kai Kanani Maui cruise” in order to see a brief preview of the amenities that come with a sunset cruise:

Explore Hawaii by visiting The Magic Isle of Maui!! Your experience will be that of a lifetime and you will gain some of the most amazing memories. I know that I’m interested in all of these activities, so I’m sure that some of y’all are too!
