February Finale

“Live life fully while you’re here. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird. Go out and screw up! You’re going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process. Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes: find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. Don’t try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human.” – Anthony Robbins

The month of February is coming to an end, and with it, are a few more fantastic events! Take these opportunities to learn something new and enjoy life!

What is Today?

As many of you probably know, today is Presidents Day. However, did you know that today is also National Drink Wine Day and National Battery Day? I just learned about the last two and thought it was a pretty interesting find! But with all of these being on the same day, how do you celebrate? Well, it’s actually easy! You can either concentrate on which one means the most to you, or you can take traditions from each and combine them! Here are some tips on how to celebrate:

Presidents Day (Some people use this day to honor Washington and/or Lincoln and others use it to honor all of the presidents)

  • Buy or bake a cherry pie
  • Attend the Birthnight Ball in Alexandria, Va.
  • Read the Gettysburg Address
  • Visit a Civil War battlefield
  • Read the inaugural address of each president

For more tips, see: How to Celebrate Presidents Day.

National Drink Wine Day

  • Determine which wine you want to drink
  • Use wine as an ingredient in your food
  • Share a bottle with friends and family
  • Rent a movie to watch while you sip
  • Find restaurants that have discounts

For more tips, see: National Drink Wine Day.

National Battery Day

  • Honor Alessandro Volta, the inventor of the battery, who died on this day
  • Think about how different life would be without batteries
  • Make a list of things you use that require batteries
  • Dispose of batteries in an environemental way
  • Try switching to rechargeable batteries

February Holidays

The DAYTONA 500 is a 500-mile-long motor race that is held annually in Daytona Beach, Florida. This race is part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and it is held at the Daytona International Speedway. This race is also often referred to as “The Great American Race” and is said to be the “thrill of a lifetime.” This year, Hertz teamed up with Joey Logano and the Penske Racing team in order to enable Hertz to “enter the sport of NASCAR.” Mark P. Frissora, Hertz Chairman and CEO, said that “By sponsoring Penske Racing, Hertz is able to tap into the loyal NASCAR fan base; race enthusiasts who will love the diverse selection of cars, including cars in Hertz’s Adrenaline and Prestige Collections, in our rental fleet.” In support of this, Hertz NeverLost has created a unique download code for the DAYTONA 500. If you have a NeverLost device and you’re in Florida for the race, simply type “DAYT” into the GPS, and you will automatically get points of interest that revolve around the event. Take a look back at some of the greatest moments in DAYTONA 500 history:

The Oscars

February 24, 2013 will mark the 85th Academy Awards ceremony, which is held in order to honor the best films in the United States from 2012. At this event, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present its annual Academy Awards. The ceremony will be held at Dolby Theatre in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles, California. As time has passed, the award categories have evolved. Some have been removed and some have been added. Presently, the Academy Awards ceremony has 24 categories to choose winners from. If you plan on being in Los Angeles for The Oscars, then you can use the My Explore Hertz NeverLost Mobile Companion to check out events, tours, and more! If you will be watching the ceremony on TV, make sure you tune into ABC this coming Sunday. To find out who the nominees are, watch this video:

Now that you’re aware of these events, use them as inspiration to have a good time as the month of February ends! Experience everything you can and have fun!
