Spring Break is Near!

“You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”  – Mae West

Well, it’s almost time for spring break!! Everyone is getting ready to take off a week from school or work and go on a fantastic vacation! Along with visiting great places, this time of the year tends to bring around a bunch of cool events too!

South by Southwest

“The South by Southwest® (SXSW®) Conferences & Festivals (March 8-17, 2013) offer “the unique convergence of original music, independent films, and emerging technologies.” This conference/festival is taking place in Austin, Texas. It is very popular and attracts a high number of people! There are three sections: Music, Film, and Interactive.

  • Music (3/12-3/17): The Music and Media Conference is returning for its 27th year and has a reputation as “as the biggest and most anticipated convergence of all things music.” It is being kept alive by the “continued effort to offer compelling daytime programming and stellar nighttime showcases.”
  • Film (3/8-3/16): The Film Conference and Festival displays the “innovation and opportunity that drives the entertainment and media landscape, and boldly tackles the evolution of all aspects of “film” today, down to its very definition.”
  • Interactive (3/8-3/12): The Interactive Festival will feature “compelling presentations from the brightest minds in emerging technology, scores of exciting networking events hosted by industry leaders, the SXSW Trade Show and an unbeatable lineup of special programs showcasing the best new digital works, video games and innovative ideas the international community has to offer.”

If you happen to be attending South by Southwest and you’re in a Hertz rental car, make sure you use download code “SXSW” in your Hertz NeverLost device to find amazing points of interest that revolve around this event! This year, I am lucky enough to be attending the Interactive Festival! I leave for Austin this Friday, so keep a look out for some amazing content! Until then, check out this video to see what SXSW is like:

“Fostering creative and professional growth alike, SXSW® is the premier destination for discovery.”

Spring Break Destinations

While some people enjoy visiting a snowy area over spring break to go snowboarding or skiing, most people prefer to go somewhere tropical! A lot of people enjoy the warm weather more, some people like to lay out and get a tan, and others enjoy the the simple act of jumping in a pool or catching some waves! There are a ton of cities that offer these amenities, but some destinations top others..by a long shot!

  • Panama City Beach, Florida: According to SpringBreakSurvivalGuide, this destination is often referred to as the “Spring Break Capital of the World!” In PCB (as most spring breakers like to say), you can find some of the best places to party, shop, play and stay. You even have the chance to spot some celebrities at a club or see them perform! For some fun facts about PCB, check out: 320 Days of sunshine a year.
  • Las Vegas, NevadaIn Las Vegas, you can enjoy amazing dining, shows, nightlife and—yes—daytime activities, too…and of course gambling! There are amazing pool parties during the day, you can spot celebrities at some of the hottest clubs at night, and you can stay in some of the best resorts! See what some groups have planned for their trip: Spring Break 2013 in Las Vegas.
  • San Diego, CaliforniaIn San Diego, you can “easily enjoy endless sandy beaches, sunny weather and countless attractions by taking advantage of one of many fun and affordable hotel deals and attraction packages offered this spring break.” There are a ton of celebrations, festivals, sporting events, and holiday activities that you can take part in!
