Enjoying 4th of July

“America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination, and unbeatable determination to do the job at hand.” – Harry S. Truman

Independence Day was yesterday and people all over America were celebrating in a variety of ways! Festivities usually include:

  • Watching a firework show
  • Relaxing at the beach, lake, or pool
  • Devouring some delicious food (often including BBQ)
  • Playing games
  • Attending a parade or festival
  • Spending time with friends and family

And much more!

Luckily, this year, I was able to participate in most of these activities 🙂

Take a look at how I got to celebrate the 4th of July!

Kaboom Town

Kaboom Town is held in Addison, Texas every year on July 3rd. “Rated one of the top places to watch fireworks in the country by the American Pyrotechnics Association, USA Today, Travel + Leisure and The Wall Street Journal, the nationally-recognized fireworks show can be seen from anywhere in Addison, including the Addison Circle Park watching party, many of Addison’s 170 restaurants, 22 hotels and more.”

Last year was the first time that I attended Kaboom Town, and I did it by hanging out at one of the restaurants in Addison. This year, however, was a much better experience! One of my best friends, Nadia, just moved to Addison Circle, so we had easy access to a fantastic view of the firework show! We hung out at her apartment and ate some good food, walked down to the park for a bit to see all of the fun that people were having, and then ventured up to the top of her parking garage to have our own watching party. Little did we know that the parking garage would be packed full of people! Some were even sitting on top of the roof to watch! Being there was a blast and the view of the firework show was amazing!

4th of July

Being able to see the firework show at Kaboom Town was awesome! However, the celebrations weren’t over. On the actual holiday, I took advantage of the weather and spent the day by the pool! My friend Maritza, has a sister who just moved into a new house in Dallas with her husband. Their house is gorgeous and they have an amazing pool! I spent the day with her family and it was a lot of fun. The guys barbecued while the girls either laid out to get a tan or went swimming. The food was amazing, there was good music, and it was sunny outside!

Great day at the pool with Maritza

After I left the pool, I met up with Nadia yet again to attend a 4th of July party that evening. One of my friends, Zahra, joined us there as well. This time, we were at a house that was COMPLETELY decorated with a Pirates of the Caribbean theme. Unfortunately, my phone died before I was able to fully capture this theme on camera, but it was pretty cool and we all had a good time at the party. There was a pool, a hot tub, and of course…more BBQ!

If for some reason you couldn’t participate in any 4th of July festivities this week, don’t worry, it’s not too late! Most people continue to celebrate all weekend long! Also, you can Sign Up for our 4th of July contest on Facebook for the chance to win a $50 Visa gift card. It doesn’t end until Sunday at midnight, so good luck!
