Shows, Cars, Boats, and More!

“No other man-made device since the shields and lances of ancient knights fulfills a man’s ego like an automobile.” – Lord Rootes

Many new products are often announced within the first couple of months in a new year. Cars and boats tend to be in this category a lot and there are a variety of shows that take place for the new announcements to be revealed! For example, the North American International Auto Show, New England International Auto Show, and the Progressive Chicago Boat, Sports, & RV Show are all taking place this week! Learn a bit more about these events!

There has been an auto show hosted in Detroit, Michigan for over a century. However, in 1989, “an innovative and visionary group of auto dealers within the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA) sought to make the event more international in scope – truly a world-class event.” This planning committee traveled to Japan and Europe to encourage automakers to bring new brands and new vehicle introductions to Detroit, for the newly named North American International Auto Show. This year is the 25th Anniversary of the NAIAS and the show began on January 13th and will last until January 26th. reveals what has happened for the show since 1989:

  • Photo galleries for each year are linked below, or you can visit the Photo Tour to check out even more.
  • 1,359 vehicles have been introduced.
  • More than 18 million people have attended the show.
  • The number of NAIAS exhibitors has grown to 216.
  • More than 124,000 media have been credentialed to cover the NAIAS.
  • More than $90 million has been raised and provided to Detroit-area charities through the annual Charity Preview, $47 million of which has been raised in the past 10 years alone.  In fact, thanks to the generosity of those affiliated with the auto industry, the NAIAS Charity Preview is the largest single night fundraiser in the world.
  • More than 125 charities have received donations from Charity Preview; 116 of which received donations from the DADA Charitable Foundation Fund, a fund of the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan.
  • For the past 25 years, the total economic impact of NAIAS on the Southeastern Michigan region is estimated at $9.7-$10.1 billion.

With many announcements coming out of new products, one really stood out! “Chevrolet today introduced the most track-capable Corvette in the brand’s history — the 2015 Corvette Z06.”

One of the bonuses of corvettes is that you can rent them as part of the Hertz Adrenaline Collection! On top of that, you can use Hertz NeverLost to guide you to your new 2014 destinations. Use download code “DIAS” in your device!

Now, if you’re ready for a thrill and don’t want to wait on renting the car, there is another way to have some fun!
