Daytona Destinations

“Live and work but do not forget to play, to have fun in life and really enjoy it.” – Eileen Caddy

As mentioned in my February Finale blog post from last year, “The DAYTONA 500 is a 500-mile-long motor race that is held annually in Daytona Beach, Florida. This race is part of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and it is held at the Daytona International Speedway.” I also pointed out that “If you have a NeverLost device and you’re in Florida for the race, simply type “DAYT” into the GPS, and you will automatically get points of interest that revolve around the event.”

Well, it’s about time for the DAYTONA 500 race again and you can still use the same download code (DAYT) in your Hertz NeverLost device to find nearby attractions! The events at Daytona International Speedway began on Friday, Feb. 14 with practice for the season-opening Sprint Unlimited and will conclude on Feb. 23 with the Daytona 500. See the Budweiser Speedweeks 2014 Schedule of Events for more information!

If you reside in Daytona, Florida or decide to venture there for the race, you might be interested in some other activities as well! In theme with the race, we have a Tug of War contest going on! This contest calls for your vote between which activity you would rather do if you were in Daytona. Would you rather play golf, or lounge at the beach? Each person has their own preference for what a good time is!

Here are some great golf courses to choose from:

For more information on these locations and an extended list of choices, see: Daytona Beach, Florida Golf Courses.

Here are some top reasons to choose a day at the beach:

  • Relax on the 23 miles of sandy, white beaches
  • Pedestrians have access 24/7  for free
  • Cars are permitted in designated areas
  • Surf Chairs can be rented for travelers with disabilities (so as to not damage one’s own equipment)
  •  There are more than 10 beachfront parks, which offer families “endless oceanfront fun with the convenience of facilities from picnic areas and pavilions to boardwalks for fishing and restrooms.”
  • Depending on what time of year you visit, you can experience Sea Turtle Season.
  • Boating, surfing, paddleboarding, kayaking, and dolphin watching are also available. See Water Activities for more info.
