Spring Getaways

“He who does not get fun and enjoyment out of every day…needs to reorganize his life.” – George M. Adams

Along with the seasonal allergies that tend to come around when spring starts, many people begin to have feelings of wanderlust. While you can’t always beat your allergies, you CAN give into the desire and impulse you feel to explore! Three spring getaways that might not come right to mind, but are sure worth a visit, are San Antonio (Texas), Charleston (South Carolina) and Vancouver (British Columbia, Canada). Check out some events you can look forward to for a spring getaway! Or, if you live in one of these areas, you can consider having a sort of “staycation,” where you stay in town, but lodge somewhere else!

San Antonio

Just last month, San Antonio was actually rated as the Most Romantic City in the United States according to a study by Amazon.com. That means San Antonio could be a perfect getaway for a couple! See more about that study by reading the article, “Hearts are on Fire in San Antonio and Seattle – Amazon.com Announces the Top 20 Most Romantic Cities in the U.S.” and keep those cities in mind as future travel spots as well!

If visiting San Antonio for romantic purposes sounds appealing to you, then check out these date ideas (even though Valentine’s Day has passed) and get some inspiration for your visit! If family entertainment is more of what you’re looking for, there is no shortage of choices for that either! Between Six Flags Fiesta Texas, SeaWorld, the Alamo IMAX Theatre Rivercenter,  shops, cruises, & restaurants on the Riverwalk, and San Antonio Grand Trolley Tours, there are so many options to choose from! Charleston, South Carolina is a great place to visit this time of year! There is an abundance of festivals and events going on which make it a perfect choice for a spring getaway. This weekend alone, there is a music fest, beach fest, and outdoor expo!

The Spring Jam Music Fest is this Saturday, March 29th, from 12pm-9:30pm. The Line-Up for Music & Entertainment seems pretty great! The festival is only a year old, but the festival is expected to be fairly popular again this year! Head over to Brittlebank Park in Downtown, Charleston to check it out!

The Folly Beach Sea and Sand Festival is a “family-friendly, dog-friendly festival & fundraiser benefiting the Folly Beach Parks & Rec and renourishment program.” This will be the 24th annual festival and it will be from March 28th – March 30th. There will be a pageant, street party, surf competition, and more! Get the full details here: Folly Beach Events.

The Lowcountry Active Outdoors Expo is the perfect event for you to experience activities such as surfing, kite boarding, kayaking, paddle boarding and golf. This event will be held at Joseph P Riley Park from 10am-4pm on March, 30th so don’t miss out on your chance to try something new!
