2014 Memorial Day Events

Memorial Day 2014 is on Monday, May 26th. This is a time used to honor and remember those who passed away while serving in the military. There are a variety of events this weekend and on Monday that you can attend in order to show your support. Along with this time of remembrance, Memorial Day is often seen as the unofficial start of summer travel. People use this time to host picnics, sporting events, family gatherings, and take short vacations. Learn about some sporting events and family activities that you can participate in this weekend!

Indy Car Racing

One of the sporting events that is taking place this weekend is the Indianapolis 500. This race has been billed as “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” ever since the inaugural race in 1911. See of the race traditions here: Indy 500 Traditions.

Professional Basketball

Another popular sporting event that has been taking place, is the NBA Playoffs. Following a couple of games this weekend, the Indiana Pacers and Miami Heat will face off in Game 4 on Monday for Memorial Day. There’s no game tonight, but the Pacers and Heat will play Game 3 tomorrow and the San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma Thunder will play on Sunday.
