Graduation Lessons

“We don’t stop going to school when we graduate.” – Carol Burnett

Life  lessons can be learned everyday, even if you aren’t in school. You know what else you can always learn about? A new place to travel!! Graduation season is here, whether you just finished high school or college, it’s time to explore some summertime getaway options!

Camping in New York

When I think of visiting New York, personally, camping isn’t the first thing that comes to mind because I’m normally thinking of how great a big city experience would be! However, our friends over at Hertz 24/7 shared an article today that was featured on www.iloveny.com and it pointed out some great spots for camping in New York! “Whether you’re looking for adventure or relaxation, New York offers every kind of natural setting for your camping adventure.” Check out a brief description of five great NY camping spots:

  • Adirondack Mountain Peaks and Stargazing – Adirondack Park offers 6.1 million acres of nature where you can hike by day and experience some of the best stargazing in the northeast at night.
  • Greater Niagara Glamping – If you want a camping experience but  you aren’t quite ready to “rough it” then Darien Lake is the perfect place for you! Not too far from Buffalo and Niagara Falls in western New York, this location offers fishing, swimming, and a water & amusement park. Not to mention, the tents are made up for you and include queen size beds!
  • Wellesley Island: One in a Thousand – Wellesley Island provides some of the best fishing for smallmouth bass, pike, and the big, ugly Muskie. Also, this camping facility is one of the largest in the Thousand Islands region and even offers the option of renting out a fully outfitted cottage that includes showers, kitchen utensils, and more.
  • Diamonds and Roughing It – Diamonds and Roughing It – At Crystal Grove Diamond Mine and Campground in St. Johnsville, you can unearth Herkimer diamonds and then “walk across a footbridge to your campsite to polish those gems by firelight.”
  • Campsites and Sounds – Spend the day fishing and swimming in Long Island Sound at Wildwood State Park. Then, if you still have energy, you can enjoy the nighttime by watching movies outside or square and line dancing.
