“Every strike brings me closer to the next home run.” – Babe Ruth

The Major League Baseball All-Star Game, also known as the “Midsummer Classic,” is tonight at 6:30 pm CDT at Target Field in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This game is played between professional athletes from The National League and The American League.

“Most people know that Major League Baseball is divided into two separate leagues: The American League and the National League. The National League, formed in 1876, is the older of the two leagues that make up the professional Major League Baseball organization in the United States and Canada. The main difference in the two is that the American League uses the designated hitter rule to replace pitchers during at-bats, and the National League does not.

While these events are winding down, Meet Minneapolis, the city’s tourism bureau, hopes that the economic performance and social success of this event, will land the city other big sporting events such as a Final Four tournament or Superbowl! According to a steering committee member, “An All-Star Game is a marquee event, and if we can do it successfully, which we will, then I think there are very few other event planners out there who would not agree with us that we would be able to host their events.”
