Shopping in Dallas

“I love shopping. There is a little bit of magic found in buying something new. It is instant gratification, a quick fix.” ― Rebecca Bloom, Girl Anatomy: A Novel

From personal experience, I can say that most of my friends tend to agree that shopping is an instant gratification! Sometimes, even window shopping can be satisfying! Thankfully, there are many places in Dallas, Texas, that offer a great shopping experience and I’m happy to say that I was able to get some retail therapy done this week! Also, I got the chance to explore some new places!

The “Shop Dallas” Tour that exists in the Hertz NeverLost Companion mobile application was very useful when it came to deciding where I wanted to shop! Download it on iPhone or Android for free!

Shop Dallas Tour

The tour features the following  destinations:

  • Galleria Dallas – “Everything is bigger in Texas, even the malls. With three massive floors of shopping and an ice-skating rink, the Galleria offers countless shops and boutiques for every shopper.”
  • Northpark Center – “Northpark Center is the epitome of upscale luxury shopping. With easy access to Highway 75, this mall offers countless high-end stores.”
  • Highland Park Village – “Since inception in 1931, the Highland Park Village exudes luxury and class. Offering a wide variety of upscale specialty shops and restaurants, this shopping village will exceed any expectations.”
  • West Village – “Slightly north of downtown Dallas located off of Highway 75, the West Village shopping and dining district offers a variety of specialty stores to please any avid shopper.”
  • Stanley Korshak – “The Stanley Korshak department store is known for its more expensive fashions and brands. Shop till you drop with designer shoes, clothes jewelry, handbags and suits.”
  • Neiman Marcus Downtown – “Neiman Marcus built its first department store in 1914, in downtown Dallas. Today, the six-story flagship store continues to offer customer service with a smile in every section.”

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of visiting the Galleria Dallas, Northpark Center, and Highland Park Village. My coworker, Elizabeth, filled her day with a wonderful trip to West Village, Stanley Korshak, and Neiman Marcus Downtown.

While I had been to the Galleria and Northpark before, I of course always enjoy going back! I’m originally from a town near Houston where there is also a Galleria shopping center, so it’s always a nice vibe for me when I visit the one in Dallas! The stores are great and they often have fashion shows, such as the “Runway Revue“, that will be on Saturday, August 9th.

Visit the Galleria Dallas to shop, eat, or go ice-skating! Check out some fashion shows too!

A visit to Northpark is a completely different situation! I love visiting Northpark Center because it’s such a unique mall! Besides all of the great shopping, Northpark always features exciting art and architecture as well as pretty landscaping pieces! Additionally, they often have interesting raffles that take place, aside from the traditional “win a car” ones that you normally see when visiting a mall. For instance, they were raffling off playhouses yesterday when I visited!

The “Parade of Playhouses” is in its 19th year and you can buy tickets online or at ticket tables in the mall. “Generous corporations and sponsors build and donate the playhouses which are raffled to raise funds so that Dallas CASA can provide more volunteer advocates to help abused children have safe, permanent homes where they can thrive.”

Check out NorthPark Center for yourself to get a luxurious shopping experience and view some cool art!

Visiting Highland Park Village – Even just driving there – Was like visiting a whole other world, to me! The large and gorgeous houses that I passed in Highland Park, with beautiful yards and fancy cars out in front, gave me a hopeful and peaceful feeling. It’s always inspiring to me to see how well some people end up in life! And while I thought the houses were fancy, Highland Park Village was just as nice! There were plenty of dining options, a cute movie theater, and boutiques ranging from cute and unheard of – to popular and pricey! This was definitely a window shopping experience for me, but a fun one! I’ll be back later in life to go shopping for real!

Highland Park Village is by far one of the best places I've been to in Dallas!

Elizabeth and I met up at Village Burger Bar for lunch in West Village and had a delicious meal! I’ve always loved West Village – It’s great for going out with friends, taking a date, or even going to eat with your family. It’s located near uptown and downtown Dallas so it’s convenient and there is so much to do!

As far as Stanley Korshak and Neiman Marcus Downtown go, I haven’t had the chance to visit yet. However, based on stories and pictures from Elizabeth, they are both very good places to to visit when you’re looking for that satisfying feeling you get from shopping! According to her, “All of the employees at both stores were amazingly friendly and helpful. Right when I walked in, they greeted me with smiles and asked how they could help! Great experience overall!” These definitely seem like places you (and I) should visit!

West Village is amazing and Stanley Korshak and Neiman Marcus Downtown seem great too!
